Hamon 波纹

"Hamon" is an intricate chamber piece meticulously crafted for an ensemble of five instruments. Inspired by the physics of wave dynamics, the composition delves into the essence of wave propagation and its associated physical principles through the medium of music. The structure of the piece intricately intertwines with varying speeds, intending to musically articulate the dynamics, transformations, and aesthetic beauty inherent in the concept of waves.

Within this composition, it explores a myriad of musical techniques to portray undulations akin to those found on the surface of water.

Continuous fluctuations and recurring patterns of notes evoke the semblance of ripples, while harmonic interplays and counterpoints between the instruments depict the propagation and interweaving nature of these undulations. Swiftly paced notes and dynamic shifts symbolize the rapid transmission of waves, whereas slower tempos or static segments outline the undulating nature and ripples of waves.

Speed assumes a pivotal role within this composition, establishing a direct correlation with the velocity and frequency of waves. The alterations in musical tempo correspond directly to the propagation speed, wavelength, and frequency of waves. Through fluctuations in musical pace, melodic leaps, and rhythmic accelerations, the composer guides the audience on an exploration of the varied manifestations of waves in different environments.
