Hamon 波纹
- World Premiere: by the Earspace Ensemble in Jan 27th, 2024
"Hamon" is a chamber piece for five instruments that takes inspiration from the physics of waves. The music is designed to capture the way waves move and change, using sound to explore their beauty and motion.
The piece uses different musical techniques to mimic the flow and patterns of waves, like ripples on water. Repeated patterns of notes create the feeling of ripples, while the interaction between instruments reflects how waves spread and overlap. Fast notes and sudden changes in dynamics represent the quick movement of waves, while slower sections capture their gentle, rolling nature.
The speed of the music plays an important role, mirroring the way waves travel at different speeds and frequencies. Changes in tempo and rhythm are used to show how waves behave in different situations, giving listeners a musical journey through the many forms of waves in the world around us.
